Eric Nam Fact Checks Fans on the Internet (2025)

I go through ins and outs of I love traveling,

I love meeting new people

and then everybody leave me alone.

I almost cursed. Can I curse?

What happens if I say like [bleep],

what would happen?

I'm kidding.

[laughs]

Hey guys, this is Eric Nam

and I'm here today at Glamour

to dive into the internet to see

what you guys have said about me.

Nam Nation get ready,

I'm going to debunk all these myths.

[upbeat music]

kprofile.com.

[upbeat music]

All right so, first fact,

He used to have a crush on BoA

and Lee Hyori when he was younger. That's true.

But also like who didn't have a crush on them

when they were younger?

Growing up in the States, you didn't see

a lot of Asian women

or Korean women on TV or anything

but then like what I came across I was like, hi.

Second fact, He speaks fluently in English and Korean

and a good level of Spanish and Mandarin.

How's my English?

Do you understand what I'm saying?

Yes, I speak English 'cause I'm American.

Korean, yes, I am now fluent in Korean

I was not always.

When I got to Korea, I was constantly put

on TV shows not knowing what was going on.

So that forced me to learn Korean

so I could stop looking like an idiot.

And it was great.

Nam Nation, [speaks foreign language]

My Spanish is decent, burrito and taco.

[laughs]

And my Mandrin is now horrendous.

So that I would have to correct just a little bit.

I've forgotten a lot of it, corrected.

So Mandarin, I picked it up,

I spent a year in Beijing studying

but then when you don't use it,

languages, you just kinda forget it all.

[speaks foreign language]

Bye bye.

When he was younger,

he was part of the Atlanta Boy Choir

and got to tour Italy when they sang mass

at St. Peter's Basilica in Rome.

That is correct.

I was part of the Atlanta Boy Choir

probably like fourth and fifth grade.

I personally didn't enjoy

the type of music that we were doing.

I was more into like whatever was

on Disney Channel and Nickelodeon.

But the cool part was we did get to tour Italy

so we went to Venice, we went to Rome,

we went to Assisi

and we sang for masses

and I got to do solo parts in St. Mark's in Venice

and really interesting places

so, it's cool, I guess,

to yeah, it's cool, right?

It's cool, it's cool.

Before making it to the K-Pop industry,

he was already making cover songs

and posting them on YouTube.

That is also true.

I say that is how I got into K-Pop.

I've been doing covers,

probably since I'd say early college

or at late High School.

This TV show in Korea saw it

and they invited me out to Korea

and then the rest is history.

And I know everybody's wondering,

can you find these on YouTube?

The official answer is no.

Next fact, his hobbies are trying new foods,

meeting new people

and visiting new places.

I mean, honestly just sounds like living life.

[laughs]

This kinda seems like,

well we don't know how to wrap this up

so let's just say these overarching themes

that apply to almost everybody

unless they're terrified and introverted

and do not leave the house, not correct.

Not that I dislike these

but my hobbies include songwriting.

I don't feel like I get enough time

to actually write what I love to do

songwriting is still a hobby for me.

A recent hobby of mine is to just stay at home

and allow myself to watch TV

and just eat.

And I love massages.

That's, a hobby.

That is a great underrated hobby,

people are like, meh, I'm like yeah,

they about take all that money, corrected.

We're gonna move on to KProfile comments, I'm nervous.

Wait, if it's comments,

does this mean anybody could just submit stuff?

Internet's a scary place.

Here we go, Saim Sajid Rehmani,

You should add his quote.

I feel like I should read this the way it's spelled out

with weird capitalizations,

Your dog speaks Chinese.

It is a quote, I did say this.

Early on in my career,

we did a YouTube video with some friends.

It was a challenge where we were eating watermelon

and we had to break it open

but we couldn't use our hands.

As we were doing this,

a friend's dog decided to come over

and try to get some watermelon

and she yells,

[speaks in foreign language]

which means Jack, Jack go home.

At that moment, as I was devouring a watermelon

and drowning in watermelon juice,

I was astounded that the dog went to his little crate

and I said your talk speaks Chinese?

And it became an instant meme

and it has followed me around for years, sorry.

I mean, honestly, I get it, it's funny

but I don't wanna be known as

the Your dog speaks Chinese guy, okay?

Every engagement, whatever someone's like,

I'm singing some like romantic love song

or some like heartfelt breakup song

and someone in the crowd goes, Your dog speaks Chinese

and I just, I lose it.

I wanna be remembered for something special

but not a Your dog speaks Chinese just saying.

[upbeat music]

This next one is from Kilithekpopfan says,

He's also friends with Khalid

and was with him when he wrecked his car

when they were on their way to get tacos.

This is true, this is very true.

Dude tries to get into a parking lot,

completely ran his bumper into the curb.

He was really excited

about this new car that he just got, hit the curb

and he was like, Oh [bleep] I should back up.

And as he backed up,

he ripped his entire bumper off the front.

[laughs]

But thankfully, nobody got hurt

and we still got tacos

and the entire dinner he just kept being like,

I'm okay but that was like my brand new car

but I'm okay but like I just got.

but I'm like, You're not okay.

but I think he's doing fine,

miss you, bro.

aminoapps.com blog post,

Why I love/Stan Eric Nam

I'm actually very curious to read this, all right,

Eric's personality can be seen

in the way he interact with Korean

and International artists on a personal level.

He can be very wacky and goofy

and it makes me laugh.

He has a personality to really care for others

and his shamelessness is amazing.

Wow, thank you, I'm shameless.

I wasn't shameless.

I wasn't shameless, I would say witty.

Witty, and cynical and sarcastic.

You like that, three for one,

barking, take it, corrected.

Youtube.com

[upbeat music]

Oh, yeah, J Fla.

[J fLa] [sings in foreign language]

I mean, I don't like reacting

'cause she does it better than me.

She's not just good, she's great.

Eric would love this amazing cover.

Yeah, you guys are correct, she's awesome.

Thank you J Fla for covering this.

She has such a great voice.

Everybody in Korea listens to her stuff

because she takes a lot of pop songs

and then she covers them

and puts her own little rendition on it

and she kills it.

So thank you, I love her.

[upbeat music]

Instagram.

[upbeat music]

This is from Yashashree2025.

Why is your phone upside down?

Well, listen, when you're taking a mirrored selfie,

lemme just explain,

it's very complicated, okay?

It's not just a selfie,

it's one that reflects into the mirror that reflects you.

It's a double or a triple selfie, you might even say.

So, in order to maximize

the angular composition of the photograph

and for the best whitespace to phone coverage,

your face ratio,

I needed it to be upside down.

This is all very, very scientifically

algorithmically thought through.

There's a reason for everything Yashasree

and now you know, you're welcome.

[upbeat music]

At redandbooks, You should think about acting, just saying

I will give you my thoughts on acting via FaceTime.

We 'gon call you real quick.

I'm nervous.

Whoa, hello.

[laughs]

Hi, how are you?

Whoa, fine, thank you.

Can't believe it.

What's your name?

Mariam.

Mariam, where am I calling you at?

France.

France? [speaks in foreign language]

I'm calling you because you left a comment that says

that I should think about acting.

What makes you think I'm qualified to act in anything?

Okay, because I think you are a great actor

basically you are doing your MV

and when you're MV

and we are watching it,

we believe what you are saying to us.

Oh.

So I think you would be great.

Well thank you so much.

I don't know if I would be a good Kdrama actor.

It's a very dramatic.

Yeah but maybe not the first male lead.

Okay.

But the second one, you know,

the one that we always [murmurs].

So you're like sidekick to the hot guy.

Just for the first role.

But that's just my first role

so I will upgrade, we will evolve.

Do you want to be my agent?

I will just fire everybody.

I'm [mumbles] just to come too far.

[laughs]

Thank you so much.

Have a great night,

I really appreciate you

and hope to see you guys soon,

so stay healthy

and love you, see you soon.

You too, thank you.

Bye.

That was cool, that was really nice talking to Mariam,

thanks Mariam for the FaceTime,

for your time.

Acting wise, honestly it's not out of the picture.

It's not gonna happen right now.

I wanna get my acting skills up

so keep an eye on my IGTV

because we have some serious drama

playing now on that channel.

I need to get into some fight, fake fights or something,

do you wanna fight me?

No? Nobody?

All right, Glamour thank you so much for having me.

My name is Eric Nam in case you forgot already.

Hope you had a good time fact checking with me

'cause I did.

I'll see you soon.

Check out my music, have a good life, bye.
